I mentioned in my last post that I was working on a documentary short film about why I started backpacking The Colorado Trail seven years ago, and why I continue trying to complete it with my dogs. After a week and a half, I’ve finished the film. It’s my first video project of this scope and I don’t think it will be my last. Though it was challenging to do as a total amateur, and I didn’t have nearly enough b-roll to avoid using still images and risk making it look more like a slideshow than a short film, it was so very rewarding to create, and I learned a lot about the process.
